About Me

Dana Kinlaw is a Senior Art Director and motion design leader with 12+ years building brand identities, motion systems, and campaigns for some of the world's most recognized entertainment brands.

His career has been defined by systems thinking as much as craft — contributing to two major network rebrands, developing the motion rules and animation language that govern how brands move and behave across broadcast, digital, social, and print. At BET Networks, he owned the motion identity and brand language development within the network's rebrand, shaping type systems, color direction, motion rules, and network branding guidelines. At Nickelodeon, he led motion design and animation systems development within the network's rebrand, defining on-air motion behaviors and type language deployed globally across platforms.

Beyond systems, Dana has directed marquee campaigns for the BET Awards, Hip Hop Awards, Kids' Choice Awards, and SpongeBob's 25th Anniversary — while remaining hands-on with Cinema 4D, After Effects, Redshift, and the full motion design process from concept through final production. His work has earned multiple Promax Gold and Silver Awards.

He stays close to emerging creative technology, having developed AR marketing activations for Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and integrating AI-assisted workflows into production pipelines.

For Dana, the most durable creative work isn't a single campaign. It's the system underneath it.
